Meet Our People Team

Our commitment to world-changing causes is in more than just our name. Every part of MissionWired, from our partners to our staff, cares about making the world a better place. Working alongside some of the most trusted philanthropies and groundbreaking political campaigns, we couldn’t be who we are, or achieve what we have, without our incredible staff.

MissionWired’s culture of collaboration, innovation, and inclusion doesn’t happen on its own. We’re intentional with every part of the employee experience – and much of that is thanks to our dedicated People Team. While they work largely behind the scenes, our work cannot function without them. Some of their work includes:

  • Hiring and onboarding
  • Training and development
  • Employee engagement and organizing support for Community Resource Groups (CRG)
  • Career management and succession planning
  • Benefits and payroll
  • Contracts and agreements
  • And much more!

Our People Team is uniquely passionate about cultivating a company culture that is respectful, inclusive, and collaborative. From hiring staff who reflect these values to organizing programming for cultural heritage months, holidays, structuring company-wide learning around inclusion and belonging, and staff bonding, the People Team is consistently searching for ways to make MissionWired a workplace where everyone feels supported, valued, and able to grow.

We are so grateful to have such a talented team who help us do what we do every day. We hope you enjoy getting to know them!

The Team

Amanda Witte (she/her)
Vice President, People Operations
It has been such a great experience to lead the People Ops function at MissionWired! My role has been focused on scaling us up from ~70 employees to nearly 300 and ensuring that a lot of the “core” HR work (payroll, benefits, systems, compliance, compensation) is as seamless as possible. One of the more rewarding (and challenging) projects has been to do this work through multiple acquisitions – there are so many balls to juggle and critical deadlines to manage. While there is a lot of behind the scenes work, being able to center the employee experience so folks can navigate change and stay focused on their own work is so critical and rewarding!
Avela Chiya (she/her)
Operations Associate
As an operations associate, I play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of day-to-day business activities. My responsibilities include managing and optimizing internal processes, handling data entry and reporting, and coordinating across teams to support overall operational goals. I really appreciate that my role allows me to interact with colleagues across all teams as well as the different clients who come into our D.C. office. In my time at MissionWired, I've been able to help curate a smooth and efficient workspace for D.C. employees and beyond, and I'm very happy about that.
Erin Novak
Senior People Operations Specialist
I have the pleasure of administering our benefit plans, including auditing, ensuring plan compliance, employee education, and overseeing related processes and procedures. I meet with new hires, investigate questions/concerns, and also manage our leave of absence program. I'm proud of various projects I've contributed to, including our 2025 Open Enrollment, Parenthood Support Policy enhancement, and most recently launching our employee benefits survey. After working in the health and welfare benefits space for 10 years, I understand the many intricacies of the U.S. health care system and am really passionate about helping our staff navigate it.
Franz
People Operations Coordinator
I primarily work with new hires during the onboarding process, ensuring that they have a smooth transition in their new roles with MissionWired. When I'm not working with new hires, I'm otherwise digging through historical people data and creating reports; one of my long-term projects is reworking our filing system. It's a lot of what people may consider menial tasks, but it's given me a greater insight into the company's history than I would have otherwise. Plus, it's just nice to have a nice clean records folder.
Grace Mulcahy (she/her)
Operations Strategist
At MissionWired, my main responsibilities revolve around keeping teams organized – handling calendars, managing the NYC office, and working on the Growth Team. To each of these projects, I bring a systematic and thorough approach. Before MissionWired, I worked at a handful of very small businesses where I learned the importance of wearing many hats. My favorite aspect of this job is supporting Democratic campaigns in critical races. Also, while a smaller responsibility, I love planning events for the New York office – we have a fun community and get to try out and support local spots!
Jaime Christmas (she/her)
Recruiter
Hi! I'm the Recruiter at MissionWired and work with hiring managers to build out all of our teams with fabulously talented people. In the day-to-day, we review resumes, conduct introductory calls, and communicate with candidates to ensure they have an enjoyable experience throughout our hiring process. In the longer term, we've worked on projects like developing an internship program and coordinating with HBCUs to bring on recent graduates. During election years, MissionWired can get very busy, so being able to hire such incredibly smart and dedicated people at such a high volume makes me immensely proud of all the work we're able to accomplish together!
Janessa Sanchez
Payroll Manager
I've been with MissionWired for three years now, and I'm responsible for processing the company payroll as well as handling any tax notices from agencies. I can also assist with any Rippling and time off questions. I'm a Certified Payroll Professional and have been in the payroll world for more than seven years. I'm always happy to help when staff reach out with any payroll questions!
José Torres-Don (he/him)
Executive Vice President, Organizational Development – People & Culture
I began my time at MissionWired with what I thought would be a short stint in the final stretch of the 2014 election cycle – that has now turned into an incredible 10+ year journey. I work across departments to recruit brilliant, big-hearted individuals who not only bring sharp thinking to their work, but also lead with care. Through listening, continuous improvement, and meaningful programming, I get to help shape our staff experience. Throughout it all, I’ve been proud to help embed equity, inclusion, and belonging into the DNA of how we work, ensuring our teams have the tools and trust to grow as individuals. It’s been an honor to help build a workplace rooted in belonging – where we support one another and rise together in service of the causes we care most about.
Karolina Karr (she/her)
Chief People Officer
A major focus area for me is the integration of our various businesses. The goal is to empower everyone to provide superior consulting and client services as one integrated team – a team that is stronger than a simple sum of its parts. This means ensuring our operations are running smoothly at high speed but, more importantly, it means enabling a cohesive culture that is inclusive of the deep bench of talent we have at MissionWired. I most enjoy the time I can spend with my colleagues on the leadership team discussing how to develop and engage our talent!
Ming Montoya-Tang (she/her)
HR Business Partner
I'm proud of the work the People Team is doing to ensure that DEIB is woven into the fabric of the organization. From our CRG events, to inclusive language documentation, excellent benefits, and a focus on the employee experience, our work continues to create a more equitable future for our team. I'm excited to see what's next on the horizon! Our Juneteenth celebrations will bring so many opportunities for folks to engage and discuss the intersectionality of identities this year.
Samantha Reed (she/her)
Operations Manager
I have the privilege of leading the MissionWired Operations Team – our team ensures the smooth execution of key processes, collaborating with departments such as IT, HR, and Agency teams. From planning staff events to coordinating the schedules of our executive team and partnering on logistics for internal client meetings, we are committed to fostering excellence and collaboration at every level of MissionWired. At the heart of our work is creating spaces that are thoughtful and inclusive, where individuals feel connected and empowered to do their best work. As a result, we strive to create streamlined processes and cultivate spaces for meaningful connections that help everyone thrive.
Sophia Hines (she/her)
Senior Recruiter
I specialize in identifying kind, passionate, talented individuals to contribute to the world-changing missions of our clients. As the leader of our recruiting team, I develop strategies to find the best and brightest, and ensure that our processes put equity first. Day to day, I am writing and reviewing job descriptions, building sustainable hiring practices, engaging with candidates, and guiding hiring managers throughout the entire recruitment lifecycle, from the initial concept of a position to the final hiring decision. I am always excited to learn the intricacies of a new position, especially if it's technical or a field I am not yet familiar with!
