Introducing: Nonprofit Trends by MissionWired
At MissionWired, our fundraising strategies are guided by a close attention to data: from the major trends impacting giving across the industry year over year to subtler shifts that occur from one month to the next to the results of tightly controlled head-to-head tests within a single campaign.
We’re big believers in the power that results have to inform creative work. Key to those efforts is context: How do your program’s revenue and engagement numbers fit into the broader context of the fundraising industry at large? The resources that nonprofits currently have to answer this question offer a great deal of data that’s relevant the moment a new report is released – but as time accumulates, that relevancy fades.
The reality for nonprofit fundraisers in 2025 is that shifts in the landscape are happening in real time, from one month to the next, week by week, or even daily. So we set out to create a living and breathing tool to help nonprofits stay connected with insights and industry trends that are relevant, timely, and on demand.
To make this happen, our innovative data scientists and nonprofit strategy leaders teamed up to bring a new and dynamic resource to life for nonprofit fundraising practitioners: Nonprofit Trends by MissionWired.
What is Nonprofit Trends by MissionWired?
We set out to create Nonprofit Trends to better help nonprofits monitor the changing state of the fundraising industry and assess how their program is performing relative to other organizations of a similar size. Nonprofit Trends aggregates data from across more than 100 nonprofits to offer consistent, timely snapshots of the fundraising industry at large.
Updated monthly to reflect the very latest results, this dashboard provides year-to-date and month-over year fundraising metrics, alongside our expert strategists’ monthly analysis of the results and strategic takeaways for fundraisers.
Nonprofits can use this new tool to:
- Gain access to a detailed look at the fundraising landscape and see how digital metrics are trending in real time.
- Understand how their own program’s results stack up against industry trends, to better contextualize their internal KPIs.
- Dig deeper into the story behind the data with monthly narrative insights from our fundraising experts, for industry-wide context and actionable takeaways.
Customized Metrics and Vertical-Specific Insights
We know that industry trends will often vary from one organization to the next – to help keep the metrics and insights in Nonprofit Trends relevant across nonprofits of differing sizes, we’ve included a functionality that allows viewers to toggle between four different views of the data: small, medium, and large organizations as well as aggregate.
For relative context around industry verticals, we recommend looking at the analysis shared in the narrative section of each month’s report. A major giving event like Earth Day or an unfolding rapid response moment will inevitably impact programs differently depending on their missions, so those qualitative assessments will offer extra value and meaning to the data in the dashboard.

What makes us most excited to release Nonprofit Trends by MissionWired is the opportunity it provides to support nonprofits’ efforts by offering a unique look into industry insights on an ongoing basis. As a breathing resource, this tool will shift and update alongside the landscape for uniquely timely and relevant data and insights. We’re so eager to talk more about how it can help your organization develop data-backed and responsive strategies – so we’re hosting a webinar in June that will dig into the data to answer the question: Faced with economic uncertainty, how are donors actually responding in 2025? Save the date for June 11 for “Nonprofit Giving in 2025: The data (so far!) on donor response to economic uncertainty”! And, if you have any questions or would like to discuss how this new resource can inform your 2025 fundraising strategy, send us a note at [email protected].
